Why community is important.

Community is important! After the years of Covid 19 and almost seemingly perpetual lockdowns, society finally came back together. Although many did not survive either the virus or the isolation, many who did were traumatized and may still be. The untold effects on the youth, especially the development of children, is yet to be seen. But what can we do, except to work on the betterment of ourselves AND to build community.
For myself, the isolation was a nightmare. Being a natural extrovert and someone who thrived in groups, the crashing depression eliminated my ability to practice yoga and to maintain any consistent level of fitness. When the second (or third- depending on how you’re counting) lockdowns arrived, I went t to Puerto Vallarta. Which became to me a second home, a magical place of healing. This is where I was offered the opportunity to teach yoga, again. I understood my calling that point, something that I may perhaps have been hiding from. My duty to build community.
And with that message carrying me on, I have had the great opportunity to meet so many talented individual’s building community themselves. From David here to other groups doing travel and yoga, retreats, online programs. We are all contributing to the betterment of our community.
Community is important because it is the connections that we make in life that drives the spirit that surrounds us. It is when one loses those connections that they may become lost. Even the introvert needs connections with others. It is not that one cannot stand alone, when needed, it is that even though they may need to stand alone, they have two hands on either side. It takes a village, they say, and I whole heartedly agree. If is wasn’t for this community, the yoga community, my life certainly wouldn’t be where it is today.
