Chanting Practice (Part 2)

Another one of my favorite chants is Om Mata. The song evokes the power of Kali (or Durga), the Divine Feminine. I feel that it is important to manifest all parts of my physical and spiritual being. This is a go-to chant that is enlightening and inspiring for me.

Meaning: Om – is a Universal mantra invoking the possibility of achieving enlighment. Mata – means Mother. Mata Kali and Mata Durga – are two aspects of the Divine feminine.

Here is one of the common incantations with the interpretation.
Om Mata Kali, Kali Durge Ma
Shri Ma, Shri Ma, Shri Ma, Shri Ma

Eternal Mother of Time!
Mistress of Death, Remover of Time, O Mother, O Dark One!
Auspicious One, Auspicious Mother, Life Giving, Life Affirming, Celebratory Mother!

Also, if you’re wanting remove obstacles, burdens, or negativity in your life-space, devote time to singing to Kali. She will help remove those overwhelming aspects of your life.

[Kali, (Sanskrit: “She Who Is Black” or “She Who Is Death”) in Hinduism, goddess of time, doomsday, and death, or the black goddess (the feminine form of Sanskrit kala, “time-doomsday-death” or “black”).]

The version that I enjoy listening to is by Tina Malia & Shimshai on the album titled Jaya Bhagavan.
